Get involved

The Community Heat Network Development Unit is an evolving and collaborative project and we welcome your input.

The CHDU Loomio Forum

If you would like to get more involved with the CHDU project we’d really appreciate it if you could bring your expertise and advice by joining our Community Heat Development Unit forum on Loomio, where we hope to encourage open discussion and collaboration on the CHDU project and community heat networks more generally. Our forum has been kindly set up by our project partners Community Energy England (CEE) as a sub-group of their CEE practitioners Loomio. To join the forum, please use the link below:

The Low Carbon Community Heat Working Group

Following excellent workshops on Heat Decarbonisation at Community Energy England’s national conference in June 2022, a Heat Working Group was set up which Kate Gilmartin agreed to convene. The group now meets approximately monthly, and has meet ups with equivalent groups in Wales and Scotland about every 3 months. It is principally a space for people to share knowledge, technical solutions, financial models, engagement methods and solutions to enable replicability and scaling as well as barriers. It can also be a place to identify potential partners. The group is also collecting resources and advising CEE on its lobbying in this arena. You can watch important presentations to the Working Group from members on CEE’s YouTube channel. In March 2023 CEE held a Heat Decarbonisation event which you can watch here
